Workshops

During the implementation of our joint syllabus, and the students’ mobility opportunities, we have held different types of workshops, useful for immediately applying and testing the acquired knowledge.

This can be interesting for all the professionals who are interested and motivated to learn more about “new frontiers” of training, especially from the perspective of public commitment, for the inclusion (or reintegration) of the working people in the economy of the ’10s.
We think of all those who deal with career coaching, traineeships, job orientation, professional training, HR training, and so on…

The syllabus of the project may be of interest for who is looking for an opportunity to upgrade its training and / or consulting proposal, in the light of the need to train people to define more broadly their digital identity.

A crisis management workshop

During the meeting held in Aarhus in September 2018, with 10 selected students from the 5 cohorts from the 5 universities, our partner Marc Rocca (Rocca Creative LTD) held a hands-on training day through an on-site workshop.

Students were given the opportunity to learn more about crisis communication and the activity emulated a live project for an international client, in an attempt to give students first hand experience of work of this nature and the sometimes tight deadlines it is delivered to.

A unique, role-play activity where students acted as communications employees of a multinational fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) organisation.

Critically students experienced first hand how it feels to be part of an unravelling crisis scenario as employees, utilising the skills they have learnt in earlier coursework while working in groups from across nations and using English as lingua franca.

The role-play was followed by a group discussion to explore learnings and share experiences and opinions.

A workshop about Social Media Management

On the same occasion as the previous workshop, students had to report on their learning experiences and compare them with their learning partners.

This specific activity was developed by Aarhus University as it is the partner organization directly involved with the world of business and communication, specifically at the Department of Business Communication, so that it is the ideal bridge between academic institutions and the job market.

During this workshop, the students had the opportunity to create the profiles from scratch, creating and assembling the contents and facing the difficulties of managing the profiles of a project not personal ones, that is in a simulation of a vocational context.

Workshops linked to the Syllabus

The process of implementing and testing the syllabus passed through a series of workshops, each focused on a specific digital text type, carried out through teachers’ mobility among the participant organizations.

The students of the 5 different degree courses first studied the specific text types they had chosen, through dedicated readings and lessons. Once acquired the tools to juggle the field, they not only stopped at the analysis phase, but then moved on to the design phase of new multimodal content.

They first studied, designed and then evaluated these types of texts:

  • “about us” pages
  • corporate videos
  • fan videos
  • video mediated interactions
  • weblogs

In fact, once their work was completed, the students were paired with those of the other universities to do the peer assessment of the other works.
They have assumed the role of evaluators of others’ work based on defined criteria.
